I find this to be oddly pleasing, given the subject. I think it's three things
--The quality of the light and exposure
--The rectilinearity provided by the camera perspective
--The composition
I think this is a thoughtful and well-done photograph that deserves high marks.

My hero!

Seems to be more about the space inside than the small window at the end or the door on the right.

I'm quite proud of this shot. It's actually a "craftsman" shot in the sense that I took this as part of a "Photographing Architecture" class at UCLA. The theme was "Doors and Windows" with an emphasis on compositing several exposures to get the inside, outside, and various shadows. There's also dozens of other tweaks, most notably barrel distortion correction. We had to shoot in the school building, which some find architecturally interesting, but to my taste is very dated.

Flatline,
Your description makes me proud that I noticed. I was sure this was no snapshot and very deliberately constructed. How great to take a class in architectural photography...at UCLA, no less.

Well, technically and compositionally it's good (to me), but there's no ignoring the matter that the building isn't particularly pretty.
...and now that I'm on a different monitor my white balance seems to be off.
