I think this is more about the ropes and hooks, and less about the water.

Maybe would have been better for a different theme.

Perhaps after reflection you might see this as an integral part of being on the water - the ropes and hooks - backgrounded by the element that they are so akin to......

The quality of light is very nice here and I love the slight bit of bokeh on the water in the background. I also particularly like how you chose a photo which is clearly all about water, and yet the water itself is just a blurry background.

However, the composition is a little lacking for me and I'm not sure why. Maybe I just don't find these hooks interesting enough to serve as the foreground. Or maybe I wish they were more off center than they are, but then that might leave too much empty space. I am not sure about this - these are just feelings not strong opinions!

I agree - it is way too centered.
