I guess its texture. I haven't a clue what it is. I would have cropped of the top third, personally.

Once again, for me, the shallow DOF is tricky for this topic. In many cases, this for example, it tends to hide some of the best textures in the subject. Also, here the compo feels off balance, maybe a little too tilted?
