She's a black and cream colored siamese cat. She was sitting in the afternoon sun and I took it as a high Key image and masked the color of her eye back in. Thanks anyway.
Could have used a bit more tact that "What the Heck is going on?" but that's just my opinion. :)

I had no idea what was going on so that is why I said what I said. I had no idea at all this was a cat. Don't know how else to say it.

Here's a photo of the regal feline from last winter when her coat is thicker and darker.

I love that image on your site....beautiful! I have two cats myself. One is a resue kitty (all black) and the other is a gray persian.

Missy was a rescue kitty too! I love cats Siamese especially. We had a number of "meezers" when I was a child. They have the neatest personalities too.
We had 1 other cat when we got Missy, but that one died at the ripe old age of 20 or 21. She was a rescue too and we weren't sure of her age, but we had her for almost 20 years when she died. She was a meanie though, beautiful tabby, but really mean. Missy is 11 now but she is a total sweetheart.

this is SO close, that some of the detail seems to be lost.
CaptureThis said 422 days ago:
Thanks Ana...I was going for an impressionistic looks with just a hint of detail that's why I pushed it to a high key image and used a close crop. I saw her sitting in the harsh sunlight coming in through the window and thought it would be a good chance to get a high key shot of her.

I was JUST looking at the thumbnail again, and it is so impressive..... and I think the problem is not your shot, but the venue.
This white background, and the way the site smashes your shots doesn't do it justice.
I think also, I have a very difficult time seeing "long" shots on my computer. The square ones seem to work better on WS.

Thanks Ana, it does look better on a gray or even better black background. It is a close crop of another shot and I didn't try a square crop. I always have trouble getting the right file size when I do a square crop so I usually don't bother with them.
I did this one for my son in Iraq. It's his kitty (well the families but he's her boy) and I want to make a small framed print for him. He needs some "art" to brighten up his digs. I think he will like this. It's the kind of thing he goes for.

Super!! Love the colors and tones. The lower right area seems soft not just out of DOF???
CaptureThis said 422 days ago:
Thanks Beamer did you mean the lower left? There is almost no detail at all on the lower right.
This was a heavily cropped shot taken at a semi high ISO (640) 65mm at f2.8 so the DOF was very narrow. I only focused on her eye. When I took this that was what I wanted in focus. The original had more detail but I pushed it to high key to get the impressionistic effect I wanted for the shot.

Interesting shot. Was this a B&W that you layered in Photoshop, or is the cat literally B&W with blue eyes and you just enhanced the natural color of the eye? I like the photo.
CaptureThis said 422 days ago:
Thanks orangganjil...She is cream and brown/black Siamese mix somewhere between a chocolate point and blue point.
It was shot in RAW so it was color and I converted to high key black and white but masked her eye back in. Her eyes are blue.
flipthom said 421 days ago:
I think this would've been a bit more relevant in the "eyes" theme. That color is awesome.
CaptureThis said 421 days ago:
flipthom...Thanks. Yes it would have fit in "eyes" but I had another that I used in that theme and I hadn't taken this shot until the other day when the Kitty happened to be basking in the sun on the piano bench, she's usually hiding out somewhere cool during the summer.
I actually posted it to "blue" and "pets" on Vazaar, which was my one of my original intents for the photo. That and for my son in Iraq.

This is a half but not sure what the heck is going on? Seems over processed in my opinion. And what is all the black stuff?? I think hair but, hard to tell....don't like this but just one photographers opinion.
