One marble in the corner would be very cool, too. Love that orange and yellow one!!

nice colours, but nonetheless I find this really boring. sorry for not being constructive...

It doesn't seem like the negative space has any real relevance here. The photo seems to be more about the marbles than the negative space. In other words, this could have been cropped almost any way, just adding a large around of empty space doesn't necessarily create relative negative space IMO.

(i will probably be the 5th to say that...hehehe)

man....if you are taking heat on this incredible shot - i am scared to post now! i am glad i rated this high 5's. it is an exceptional piece.

It's not the shot that's in question here. I agree, it's a great shot. I just feel like it's not really about negative space. The shot is of the marbles, set on a white background. The negative space doesn't add a compositional element to this image, and really could have been cropped tighter for an even BETTER image as the empty space in the top of the frame doesn't add anything... Just my opinion though!

To be honest I've been thinking if I would submit this shot or not. But since I do feel that the empty space adds to the compositional quality of the image I decided to go for it.

Yes, you could crop the white, but that would make a different image. For my feeling the added space adds to the depth and the emptiness/loneliness of the marble left behind. Compare it to two people riding away from a farm in the middle of nowhere, leaving a thirth behind.

Anyhow, for me the image isn't really about the marbles, pretty as they are, but about two entities leaving a thirth behind as a fading memory.

What other actually see in the image is a completely different story though.. ;-)

I really, really like this. It's just so eye catching.

The negative space seems very commercial, and in that sense, works well. I also appreciate the shallow depth of field. It gives the negative space some depth.

Awesome bright colours in this against the stark background. I really like the feeling of depth from the placement of the marbles going foreground, middle, background, despite how flat the white backdrop is.

Very nice job.
