Interesting use of selective colour and very relevant!

ChriZ said 269 days ago:

Usually I'm not a big fan of selective color, but I had to do it on this one...

Wow, I really like this. The combination of selective color and great black and white tones make it awesome, not to mention the relevance to the theme.

Ana said 269 days ago:

way more impact without that selective colouring. but that's a matter of taste.
This is also "stop action" isn't it?
That's different from movement, IMO.
Great shot all the same, but I think the processing takes away from the actual shot.

Not sure how those shadows were made??? Great capture of movement, tho...

Jeff said 269 days ago:

I'm not sure I understand the second shadow (if that is what it is) on the wall. Other than that, this is an interesting photo. High marks.

CushmoK said 269 days ago:

not sure of the desaturation way..
great shot by the way

mooch said 268 days ago:

Looks like the technical ability of ChriZ?

mooch said 268 days ago:

I didn't mark it too highly. It is clever but doesn't quite hit the mark for me. I cannot place it. I think it's the selective desaturation that in this case, detracts from the shot.

Im suprised that this didnt feature. OKit isnt movement exactly, but then neither is panhandlin's. I just realised that what I took to be a well defined line in the coour image torso is infact the shoulder line from the first image. This is great detail

Thank you all for your comments!

Ana, as already mentioned I'm not too much into selective saturation, but I had to in this shot, the surroundings were way to distracting and the main character wasn't isolated enough to stand out in plain bw (or all color) so I used the technique to help the image in a way...
about "stop action", again, it's a photograph ;)

Beamer, they aren't shadows, it's three shots merged into one, that's him jumping of the wall and making a summersault (movement)

Jeff, no shadow ;) thanks!

CushmoK, hmmm I just don't know to bring him out differently, selective blur?

Mooch, thanks! Spot on ;) damn that selective color!

Stolenlife, thanks for the feature =)

ChriZ,
Now this is neat. I tend to agree with others about the selective coloration (and I see the need for it), but the *IDEA*, the composition and the execution are excellent.

I know we think in similar ways when it comes to creating images, as opposed to capturing images over when we have no direct control. This is a combination of the two and is very effective, IMHO.

Congratulations on he feature.

P.S. -- I used to be able to do that about 45 years ago...sigh.
