Is that a skull? With a noose around the neck of whoever that is? With flames in the background? Not quite sure what this is. Somewhat interesting, but if the skull were more visible and turned toward the viewer it'd be a more compelling image. Also, this doesn't hit the relevance for me.

desquin--thank you!
george--uh no. it is a person dressed as the grim reaper. the background are figures walking. if i am not mistaken, the 'relavance' for this theme was to be shot at night. this was taken at the dia de los muertos procession and is all about death, a very common fear many of us have 'in the midnight hour'. ;-)

Valerie, pardon if my comment came off strong. I didn't intend to be :)
Your explanation totally makes sense, now that I read it. For what it's worth, I suppose what I meant by not being "relevant" for me was that if I saw this out of context of this theme, I wouldn't think "night," but more, as you say, "death" or "ominous foreboding."

no worries george! i do appreciate you taking the time to comment and your thoughts. the great thing about art is that it is open to many interpretations. i also realize that what i may see or think about one of my images is very different from what anyone else will get from it.
of course it would have been nice to get more than 3 ratings for this image. that does bother me. ;-)

oops! wrong image about the 3 ratings. this one did get 7. my bad. i really shouldn't comment when i am tired. hahahha!

I like this! Cool interpretation of the theme.
