I think I may be one of the few people in the world who has neither read the books or seen the movies. at the risk of looking like an idiot, this is Lord of the Rings right? Nice composition and great detail and lighting.
JIMJIM said 268 days ago:
Should I say "Play it again Sam!" ?
;-)
King said 268 days ago:
@Lemmingstone, well now you've read a sentence or two. Yes, LOTL. The movies, fine as they are, don't do full justice to the books. They may not be your cup of tea, but if you get into them, the reward is great.
Thanks for your comment!
This was shot with my wife's Panasonic Lumix point-and-shoot on my desk top with my desk light--one of my favorite ways of shooting without leaving my chair.

Nice quote. Nice detail and love the shadows.

Very good - great quality.
stolenlife said 268 days ago:
Im not too sure about the plants framing the top of the page, but I like everything else. Maybe the passage from the grey havens would have been more fitting, but well done, and farewell
stolenlife said 268 days ago:
And the book is Return of the King, pshaw should have known
King said 268 days ago:
@stolenlife...This is recycled from the "The End" theme. That's why it doesn't so much say "Farewell," but "The End of All Things."
Thanks for your comment and for those of others.
flipthom said 268 days ago:
Excellent idea for the theme and very well executed too. Love it.
dennis said 268 days ago:
Ahh, but all of us Tolkein nerds know this wasn't infact the end. A hopeful sentiment :)
mtmartini said 268 days ago:
This is a nice departure from the barrage of similar shots. I like the addition of dried sage and lavender(?) but the one piece of grass going across the page is somewhat annoying.
King said 268 days ago:
@dennis...put a star next to your name. Extra credit for your perceptive comment. I was wondering if anyone would mention that important fact.
Beamer said 268 days ago:
Ah yes...back in the shire, all is good now.
JimiThing said 268 days ago:
Extra points for the LOTR reference.
Perseida said 268 days ago:
WOW!! Congrats King!
Your shots are always magic!
Kisses, from the South ;)

Darn it I missed the King contribution before it featured. No matter the fate of this website and its participants, Anna and I plan to keep up with Mr. King.
King said 268 days ago:
@Beamer, JimiThing and Perseida...many thanks.
Jack and Anna...that would be great. Did you guys manage to complete your big move?
Cheers to all,
King
CushmoK said 268 days ago:
Just to say, at last, that the name of my daughter is 'Arwen'.... Farewell, King...
King said 268 days ago:
@CushmoK...That's great!--and is her middle name "Evenstar"?
From Wikipedia: In Sindarin Arwen's name signifies noble woman (S. 'ar'=noble, 'wen'=maiden). Her second name or epessë, Undómiel means Evenstar (Evening star) (Q. 'undómë'=dusk, 'él'=star) Therefore she is also called Arwen Evenstar.
CushmoK said 268 days ago:
I know King.... and she accept to loose her immortality to love a human, a King !
Depuis que je suis enfant ce nom m'enchanta, ma fille aujourd'hui le porte, et m'enchante !
kadenajack said 268 days ago:
The big move still hasn't happened. You're still welcome to visit any time though.
George said 267 days ago:
Bravo King! Wonderfully put together.
ChriZ said 264 days ago:
Nice ending King...
Let us not get too sentimental though. =)
If the site would support music I would probably burst out in tears now, phu.
Haven't been on Weeklyshot lately, well actually I was barely to be found anywhere, so this came quick for me too quick.
Loved the site and the people, I could learn a lot from everyone (especially from you)
To a fine ending, and a new beginning...
Cheers

The best thing about this shot is that it doesnt look staged!! These things look like they were just tossed there by the will of fate.
Good job King. I have always loved your photographs!!
King said 263 days ago:
Thanks, George, ChriZ and martylavender! As I am sure you know, the admiration is mutual.
Cheers, my friends.

The tonal range and clarity of this image is truly amazing King.
SeekingFocus said 263 days ago:
Hey old man! This was the easiest of them to pick out- even without your name on it. Thanks for getting me back over here one last time...
It's been nice getting to know your style and learn a thing or two from your experience.

@pursang...ain't it amazing what a little point-and-shoot can do if you hold it real steady? Thanks, my friend.
@Jason...thanks. I've missed your contributions to WeeklyShot. I think one reason I sort of dropped out about four months ago is that many of my online friends had stopped participating.
Good to see you here at the end, though.
