An action eye image! The hand looks older than the face. Is it someone different?

Wonderful idea and a great take on the theme. Instead of just eyes staring at the camera, you've given us something different. My only nitpick is such a young face, but the hands are old looking. Maybe the contrast is too much?

Nick and beckn32. The hand does NOT belong to the face which is one of the elements I like in this image. The young woman was having mascara applied by a much older woman in preparation for the Carnaval parade in the Mission District of San Francisco.

And like both of you I enjoy imagery that has a story or action rather than a static image when people are the subject matter. Thanks for the comments, they are much more valuable to me than ratings.

Awww, thanks so much for the clarification. The composition makes it seem as if it's her own hand doing the application and so being that way it really makes it very intriguing. At first I wondered if it were two different people, but you played a lovely trick on perception. I agree, I love it when a photo makes you think instead of just look mindlessly (is that a word, mindlessly?).

I like the composition, the old hand and the young face, but is a bit too processed for my taste. And is more about the hand than the eye...

I didn't see this until right now, an indication of how I feel about this theme and its subsequent responses, however I love this. It has that added element of something actually going on surrounding the eye AND it is an exceptional shot.
