Really nice vanishing point perspective.

eduardo said 601 days ago:

very, very nice one of top

ajcoutinho said 601 days ago:

Wonderful composition. IMO just some more contrast on the background would make this picture perfect. Nevertheless a fantastic picture.

groen65 said 601 days ago:

you can really feel the weight of the bridge. It's massive compared to the buildings across the river, which makes a very interesting composition. Great!

Ana said 601 days ago:

these are tough shots to get. I can never get the "sides" right.

George said 601 days ago:

The Danube? Quite nice. I would have liked to see a bit more detail in the top foreground.

Montage said 601 days ago:

Cool perspective!

bioLarzen said 601 days ago:

So familiar :)

Lemmingstone said 601 days ago:

This works for me. Wouldn't mind one little bit being on one of those boats.

Nick said 601 days ago:

Fun perspective. I like the lines!!

Thank you all for the comments.
Now, would someone explain why is the Technique score just above 3 (average)? Not a complaint but I want to learn. As Ana said, this is a hard expo because of the shades on the body of bridge and the light background. My personal opinion that one has to do above average to do it right. (Again: don't get me wrong, it's not meant to be self-hype, I just wander what is missing here to get a Technique score around 4.) I take ajcoutinho's comment as a good hint at this point, thanks.

gazdi,

scores are sometimes hard to explain. I gave you 25, so I don't have to explain anyíthing :), but just think of it: would anybody have any reason to give you less than 5 for relevancy? This pohoto depicts a bridge, automatic max score for relevance, right? And I bet your relevance average is not 5.00...

gazdi said 600 days ago:

Speaking of Relevance, it's 4.16 ATM and I agree with one who gave lower than 5. I do because this pic is also about being surpressed (as groen65 wrote). Some also count uniqueness into Relevance (should count to Impact IMO). So I'm more than satisfied with Relevance. I'm only confused about Technique, really.
(BTW, 25 is way higher than I'd give to this. :))

gazdi, as has been noted in the past, i think people's perception of "quality" and "technique" are often affected by their appreciation of the shot. if they like the shot a lot, they'll rate high on quality/technique, but if they don't like the shot a lot, well...

i try to rate each category on its own merit. if i recall i rated this a 3 for technique, which has the tagline, "effective lighting, focus, shutter speed, etc." to my eye the underside of the bridge in the foreground occupies about 50% of the image frame and therefore should have equal weight as the rest of the image in all aspects. i would have liked to see more exposure on that top 50% of the underside of the bridge, to appreciate more detail. otherwise, you could crop out almost the top 50% of the shot and have a somewhat different kind of image. just one person's opinion :-)

duncmc said 599 days ago:

Like groen65 says, you can really feel the weight of the bridge. It's quite oppressive. Great shot. Congratulations on the feature.

King said 599 days ago:

Excellent. Congratulations.
George and ajcoutinho make some good points to consider.

George said 599 days ago:

Congrats gazdi! Looks like you'll wake up with a smile in your inbox :-)

gazdi said 598 days ago:

I'm surprised. Thank you all. :)
Looks like I'll have to go out and do this again. But this time I won't post it to the next theme. :)

VernonTrent said 598 days ago:

gazdi, you've got a "self with edge" on the other side :-)

gazdi said 598 days ago:

checked it, thanks :-)
