This is so clean! 25

pursang said 596 days ago:

Ah, German precision! I should have known my friend.

eterisk said 596 days ago:

This is truly great, one of my favourites.

Ana said 596 days ago:

a great shot that has a bridge....but this is about the lights and colours!! well done.

mtmartini said 596 days ago:

This is a wonderfully graphic take on the theme. Great colors. 25

duncmc said 596 days ago:

Wow. That is a very cool shot. I love the simplicity of the composition and those colours. Well done Vernon!

subjektiv said 596 days ago:

fantastic - and abstract. another great one, vernon!

King said 596 days ago:

I guess that's a train going across the viaduct. Did you have the train schedule available when you planned this shot, Vernon?

Spectacular, and soooooo well done.

mooch said 596 days ago:

I can't see the attraction myself ;)

This is perfect Mr Trent. Such bold colours and perfect framing.

VernonTrent said 596 days ago:

@king
yes.
it was my intention to have the bridge and the trail of an highspeed train in the frame.
the cars made the shot complete :)

@all
thanks for your feedback and feature :)

King said 596 days ago:

The green phosphors of my monitor have organized and petitioned for equal space in this remarkable photo.

kadenajack said 596 days ago:

Vernon, you are my hero.

Jay said 596 days ago:

Wow. Nothing else needed.

Ana said 596 days ago:

did you take this just for the theme?

VernonTrent said 596 days ago:

@ana
yes, this morning around 04:00 am

bslomovic said 596 days ago:

Round of applause for someone willing to get up at 4am for a photo (and a feature). Great on Vernon!

CSD said 596 days ago:

Perfect. Did you make the rear lights 'stronger' in Photoshop?

VernonTrent said 596 days ago:

@csd
the image has a curve layer with a slight "S" curve on the rgb channels. (boost the "darks" & brighten the lights)

philippe said 595 days ago:

I don't do long exposure, but when I tried recently, the picture was really noisy. How do you manage this?

Lemmingstone said 595 days ago:

Most of what I could say has already been said. This is a pretty slick shot. There are plenty of great shots entered each theme, week after week but this is just an absolute pleasure to look at. Great job.

psychodudu said 595 days ago:

This is bloody fantastic, Vern!!! How on earth did you keep it so free of noise? Did you use any kind of filter? God, I just love this. I would buy this anytime, anywhere, and stick it stright on my bedroom wall! I'm juuuust not sure about the smaller spots of light....

Tom said 595 days ago:

Pure magic. Superb work and execution.

VernonTrent said 595 days ago:

@philippe & andrew
I don't know how you take night shots,
but here I had iso 100, f/16 and 30 secs exposure time. 50mm lens and camera on tripod.

philippe said 595 days ago:

Well, this is exactly what I did...and I got a lot of noise in the shadows...

VernonTrent said 595 days ago:

this shot here is a 30 sec, iso 100, f/4.
http://www.weeklyshot.org/theme/long-exposure/response/62/

what cam are you using, phillipe?

VernonTrent said 595 days ago:

oh, sorry.
in my post above, iso 400 not 100.

philippe said 595 days ago:

I use a Nikon D2X, so if some pictures lack of quality, it can only be my fault... :O)

VernonTrent said 595 days ago:

aaah ok :-)

you can try and use a x10 ND grey filter on your lens. try if you can borrow one and do some test shots.

philippe said 595 days ago:

Excellent, I'll do that. Thanks a lot Vernon.

BeakerSt said 594 days ago:

Awesome

VernonTrent said 594 days ago:

@philippe
here is a shot taken by a colleague with a nikon early this morning. (on request)
http://www.xoverip.info/tbd/scharn.jpg
nikon d200, iso 100, tokina 12-24@24 mm, f/10, 30 sec.

philippe said 594 days ago:

I'll throw away my D2X and get me a D200...
Seriously, what am I doing wrong?
This is the shot I was talking about:

file:///Users/useruser/Desktop/maison_fichiers/_DSC0120.html

As shot, converted to dng, before any processing.

ISO 100, f9, 58mm, 30s. The lens is a Nikkor VR 24-120.

VernonTrent said 594 days ago:

your link points to your own computer :-)

King said 594 days ago:

Part of philippe wants to share, and part of him doesn't.

philippe said 594 days ago:

Mmmmh... I'm trying to use Web Photo Gallery, but it's the first time I try it and obviously I'm doing something wrong.
I have to go back to my book... :O)

philippe said 594 days ago:

I just wanted to show that if I leave the darkest parts completely black, it's okay, but if I want to "open" the shadows to get more details, then I get the noise too...
