good idea. The background shot is isn't very clear...I wish it were sharper. The wooden model seems to be mimicking the girl, which was obviously on purpose. I wonder if it would be more "twisted" if the third figure where in another pose.
But anyway...great idea. good shot.

Pretty freakin cool shot, with a lot of impact and good composition....just not really relevant IMHO.

I assume this is your's King, since it has your style, and also you have been the commentor ahead of me for the past 10 shots!!!

Lots of twisting going on there. Very well done.

Ana,

The background shot (one of mine, of course) is deliberately out of focus, to make clear what is the foreground and what is the background. This image was conceived earlier in the day when my wife bought the little artist's model at a garage sale.

Jarrett,

You try twisting your body that way and you'll think this is very relevant. :>)

Lemmingsgtone,

Thanks.

I like this a lot. It has me wondering how it was shot. Has the figure been placed in front of an existing photograph?

mooch said 476 days ago:

It is pleasing to the eye but not quite what I would consider twisted, it's too graceful

Flatline said 476 days ago:

Always liked this one a lot, and I love the warmth that the doll adds to an already great shot.

Nice to know you're back.

Stunning, interesting, moving, exciting, fun!

King said 476 days ago:

The background image was one from my archives that I had considered posting as is. Then my wife found this little model and started TWISTING it around into different positions, one of which reminded me of the girl in this photo.

I posed the model from approximately the same low angle and lit it similarly (note the shadows on the left shoulder of the dancer and the model), although my lighting these days is stone-age low tech.

Mooch,
Too graceful...I take that as a compliment, thanks. I know that my Relevance scores will be low. I have a great twisted wire shot, but that's been done to death already, don't you think?

I'm working on a photo this morning that I conceived just for this theme and I think you will agree that it is more relevant than the above shot.

Thanks all for your comments!

If this ain't a Fat Bastard original, I'll eat my hat. I love it. I think I see what you mean by "twisted" but from a non-dancer's perspective I look at dancers and think words like "supple" and "graceful" and "lithe" rather than twisted, unless of course the person (or people) are *really* twisted. But high high marks nonetheless for a great image. (I guess you had to use string to pull the figurine's legs up to mimic the dancer?)

George said 475 days ago:

I'm glad I don't have to eat my hat...and that I had a hand in featuring this. Well done, FB!

King said 475 days ago:

Hey, George...thanks for pushing this over the top. I used pieces of brass wire to get the legs in position. You can see them as I didn't bother to clone them out.

If I posted an image of some kids from the 50's doing the Twist, would that count? These dancers really are twisting their bodies to an extreme. Try it.

Thanks again!

I love this shot. Great sense of humor and very creative thinking. I'm sorry I was out of town and didn't get to vote. It would be fives from me.
